It has been one exciting year for us all here at CarTow.ie. Since our commencement last October, we have now grown to become the largest Irish roadside assistance company. Alongside that, one of our proudest achievements is that we are a fully owned Irish company based in the beating heart of the capital. We have staff of over forty people in Dublin alone, and this continues to grow in line with our expanding business.

CarTow.ie is dedicated to supporting our local community, and over the past year alone we have held educational talks in Trinity Comp, held a charity race in Mondello, invested in green energy with our electric Twizy and even arranged a convoy of vehicles donned in the tricolour to circle the Aviva to support our boys in green.

Above all else, what really warms the cockles of our hearts, is the team that we have formed over the past twelve months. The CarTow.ie family is at the core of all we do and it is this support network that continually allows us to serve our customers with such impeccable standards. So, to all our CarTow.ie Hero’s, thank you, most sincerely.

Last, but by no means least, we are eternally grateful for all of the support and loyalty shown to us by our fantastic customers. You have been the reason that we are here one year on and we cannot thank you enough. All we can say is that we are looking forward to many more years providing the innovative solutions to your every breakdown need.

Take a look at some of our celebratory pictures from our anniversary soiree today. Our Ken and Johnny used some innovative methods to open our bottles of bubbly as we couldn’t locate a bottle opener.

 CAN YOU FEEL THE HEAT?

For the thirteenth consecutive year, Fairyhouse has hosted the Heatwave Motorshow, attracting an array of glittering motor treasures from across the globe. The CarTow.ie team rocked up in force, all ablaze in our orange gear, bringing some sunshine to the grounds in Meath. Although it was raining on Saturday, we decided to make lemonade from the lemons that we were dealt and use it as an opportunity to sport out brilliantly branded CarTow.ie all-weather jackets. As you can see by Diane’s reaction, she is more than happy to be our primary model.

In fact, Diane did such a great job modelling our jackets, that she was plucked from the crowd and entered into the Mrs. Heatwave competition. Our Diane is no wilting wallflower, she was straight up to the MC, getting comfortable with the microphone.

Although there were throngs of attendees at the event to see world class motor vehicles, there was an undeniable interest in our little Twizzy. It was clear that the CarTow.ie’s pint sized vehicle stood out amongst all of the flashy and fierce motors that were present in Fairyhouse on Saturday. We were more than happy to talk to people all about how our wondrous electric car fits into our high spec fleet, and more importantly, how it plays a huge role in our green vision for the future of CarTow.ie. Some of the lucky ones were even taken for a spin!

Throughout the day, we spread the word of the superb value of the CarTow.ie membership that is currently on offer for only €39.95 annually. We were not surprised when there was an overwhelming interest in our latest membership deal, which can be found on our website here. When we saw the level of enthusiasm surrounding our membership, we decided to raffle off one to a lucky attendee. At the close of the event, we put all the names in one large hat and plucked the fortuitous winner. Congratulations are in order for Brid Murphy from Dublin, who is now the newest member of the CarTow.ie family. The entire team extend the warmest of welcomes to you Brid!

Signing off yet another fruitful chapter in the blossoming story of CarTow.ie,

 Twizy on Tour

Our little Twizy hails from the Renault family in France and as such is new to this pretty green isle. The CarTow.ie team decided that, since Dublin has been receiving spurts of golden weather over the past couple of weeks, we would take the newest French member of our fleet on a tour of our fine city.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next blog and see where we tour the Twizy next. If you manage to spot us out and about in Dublin, take a picture and upload it to our Facebook page for a chance to win a free years membership.

The first stop was Aras an Uachtarain, to show off the beautiful grounds surrounding the President’s house within Phoenix Park. As an aside - we knocked, but no one answered.

There was no way we could pass by these gates and not take a pit stop. The Guinness Factory has been up and running in Dublin since 1759 and its harp symbol is now seen as an infamous Irish trademark around the world.

Within The Docklands there is an area called Grand Canal Dock that is home to places like The Bord Gais Theatre and The Marker hotel. Both well worth a visit!

Dublin is brimming with stunning architecture, and you would be hard pressed to find a better example of this than Christ Church Cathedral. The earliest manuscript dates Christ Church cathedral to its present location around 1030 and in 1152 it was incorporated into the Irish church. It is now one of Dublin’s top attractions.

While we were in Phoenix Park we took a pit stop in front of The Wellington Monument. Did you know that it was built to commemorate the victories the 1st Duke of Wellington and it was originally planned to be located in Merrion Square.  They later built in the Phoenix Park after opposition from the square's residents!

After being immersed in the luscious green surroundings of Europe’s largest city park, we decided to take the Twizy over to the most up-and-coming part of the city – The Docklands. It contains an eclectic mix of old and new, of modern architecture and historic buildings. And what better place to pull up and admire the view than in front of the great Samuel Beckett Bridge, which joins the north and south sides of the city.

Dublinia is located at the crossroads of the medieval city at Christchurch, where modern and old Dublin join. It is here that we brought The Twizy to meet the Vikings face to face!

Fundracer Ireland held its annual event in Mondello Park for the third year running, with the three years raising over €60,000 in aid of the Jay and Ellie Foundation and Irish Autism Action. This year was even bigger than before with a huge range of cars from supercars, rally cars, touring cars and drift cars.

EXPAND BELOW MORE OF THE SORY!

I don’t know whether it was the shining sun or the positive vibes, but there was something very special happening in Mondello that Friday. There was a constant queue for a sponsored lap around the track, where all the money collected went to the selected charities. The professional drivers lined up with good cheer to take passengers on a once in a lifetime trip around Mondello in a state-of-the-art racing machine.

CarTow.ie had front row tickets for the event, gaining a spot right beside the track entrance, ahead of even the Lamborghini! We attracted lots of attention with our mini Renault Twizy, and as the audiences swarmed around us, we educated them on the benefits of driving a fully electric vehicle and how they will soon be commonplace on our roads.

In the run up to the event we put ourselves forward to see how the Twizy would hold up against the fittest and fastest cars in the world. As a result, the organisers of the event gave us a special designated slot on the race track for CarTow.ie to strut our stuff. We even nabbed the wonderful Shane McFadden to be our professional driver to put the Twizy to the test.

Before the event we made our way around the crowds, raising awareness of the cause and our part that we were playing. The CarTow.ie team all had sponsorship cards where the crowd could make a guess at the time that The Twizy would take to do a full lap around the track. The Twizy (and Shane) made it back in one piece in just under 3.17 minutes. Congratulations to the winner, Darren Johnston, who won a year’s free membership and an All-For-One voucher. CarTow.ie was proud to raise over €200 for the cause! Thanks to Mark and all the Fundracer team for such a great day out and all in the aid of charity. We are already looking forward to next year!

You can also avail of the wakeboarding facilities on the dock…it is a pity that our Twizy isn’t amphibious.

Spreading the Positive energy

Supervalu

Twizy

Car Drive

26th June 2015

On a wet Wednesday morning we got a phone call from our good friend Robert, owner of Nan’s Supervalu in Ballymun, who thought it would be a super idea to spread the Twizy love in the neighbourhood. The local principle was thrilled at the idea, so off we hopped, into our little electric car, and made our way down to Trinity Comp Ballymun.

As the Twizy is so neat and compact, we were able to drive straight into the front reception area of the school where we were greeted into the welcoming arms of the Trinity Comp team of teachers. One by one, they brought individual classes down to see the Twizy and listen to us speak a bit around how it fits into our green vision for the future.

We spoke to the students around how the ESB is planning to have 10% of cars on our roads fully running on electricity by 2020, and how the benefits associated with this vision impacts our environment. Electric cars are 100% fuelled on electricity, which means that there are no emissions being released that harms our environment. On top of the zero CO2 emissions, the electric car also has no noise pollution either!

Further down the line, the bigger plan incorporates the use of green energy sources, such as wind or solar, to charge the electric car. This will mean that completely clean energy was used to fuel the car, which in turn consumes it in a very environmentally friendly way.

We gave the students time to interact with the car, understand the mechanics of how it works and we even had some time for a photo op in the driver’s seat! It was very fitting for the Twizy to pay a visit to Trinity Comp as they have recently earned the Green Schools Flag, which can now be seen flying high outside the school. A lot of work and effort went into getting the Green Schools Flag and all of us here at CarTow.ie would like to congratulate the principle Mr O’Doherty on facilitating such a great achievement.

CarTow.ie had such fun educating all the lovely students in Trinity Comp and would like to thank all the people involved who made it possible. Who knows, maybe one of these students will take inspiration from our visit and become one of the 10% in 2020 who drive an electric car!

CarTow.ie Goes Green

POST DETAILS

Our fleet is out and about on the roads every day, saving the world, one breakdown at a time. While we love our role as the Roadside Superhero, we were thinking that we would like to save the world in another way.

When we heard of the ESB’s Great Electric Drive, our headlights lit up. We know that using clean energy is the future and we couldn’t wait to see how CarTow.ie could get involved with the ESB’s new drive for the use of eco-friendly energy.

After contacting the team fuelling The Great Electric Drive, we were one of the fortunate applicants to receive an electric car (over 20,000 people applied!).  The very snazzy Renault Twizy was assigned to the CarTow.ie team, and when it rocked into CarTow House beside Dublin Airport, it caused quite the stir!

We are delighted to be teaming up with the ESB to partake in the Great Electric Drive and we are brimming with ideas to show off the brand new eco-friendly edition to our fleet. The Twizy will be whizzing around Dublin over the coming months, so keep an eye out for us. Don’t be afraid to come and say hi or tweet us @cartowdotie for special prizes if you manage to grab a picture.

Let’s all make a drive for positive energy!

On any given Sunday, the most specular miracles can happen. Last Sunday was one of those days, except, this was no miracle. It was a display of pure physical doggedness and determination to beat a side that have a history of causing us heartbreak throughout the years.

We felt victory in our waters here at CarTow.ie, so we decided to join shoulder-to-shoulder with our boys in green at the Aviva. Decorating our spectacular trucks in the tricolour, we roamed around the streets of Dublin with pride, awaiting the glorious outcome that would unfold in The Aviva that day. Take a look through some of the pictures from our CarTow.ie tour around Dublin.
